Workshops Descriptions
Welcome to the Solar Age! Paula Gonzalez, SC, PhD
The reality of climate change is rapidly becoming "everyday conversation", as is the rush to immediate "solutions" --(many of which may cause great ecological, economic and social harm). Clearly, what we humans should be searching for are approaches which can provide long-term stability within the finite limits of Earth's resources. In the renewable energy community we suggest an exciting approach: "The solution comes up every day"!!
Simplify Your Love Marion and Werner Tiki Kustenmacher
Can anybody simplify love? This huge, ever growing wealth of bliss, needs and misunderstandings? If you get lost in a big city, you cannot simplify this town. But you can use a map and find out where you are. This is what Marion and Tiki Kustenmacher do in their book "simplify your love" and will do with you in the workshop: Show you the typical places on our journey through the beautiful land of love – and then help you find out where you and your spouse actually are. If you are stuck or lost and have to find a way out, the Kustenmachers' will bring you good news: Even in the darkest places, there are surprisingly strong powers inside your soul that God had created for you. Even in the boring, tiring long parts of your journey, there are amazingly attractive newdestinations for you two to reach.
Simplicity and Sabbath Suzanne Stabile
Suzanne will lead a discussion addressing the impact of Sabbath-keeping on the practice of voluntary simplicity. The word Sabbath comes originally from the Hebrew verb Shabbat which means primarily "to cease and desist." During this time together participants will explore several ideas of "ceasing" including the ceasation of accomplishment, anxiety, striving, evaluation and expectation. Suzanne suggests that perhaps the greatest friend of simplicity is the contentment that results from the keeping of a Sabbath.

About the Sponsor
The Center for Action and Contemplation, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was founded in 1987 by Franciscan Father Richard Rohr. Father Rohr saw the need for a training/formation center that would allow spiritually seeking people to integrate a contemplative lifestyle and compassionate service. The CAC attracts people from around the world who seek peaceful, positive alternatives and solutions to the difficult challenges of our often materialistic, irrational and violent world. The center offers different programs and resources which you can read about on this website.
