About the Presenters

James Finley

James Finley, left home at the age of 18 for the Abbey of Gethsemani in Trappist, Kentucky, where Thomas Merton lived as a contemplative. He studied closely with Merton, and later earned degrees from the University of Akron, Saint John College, and the Fuller Theological Seminary.

He is now a renowned psychological and spiritual counselor in Santa Monica, CA, who leads retreats and workshops on a regular basis throughout North America. His books include Merton’s Palace of Nowhere and The Contemplative Heart. Richard Rohr

Richard Rohr, OFM internationally noted author and spiritual teacher, is a Franciscan of the New Mexico province and founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation. Fr. Richard’s gift is articulating to our minds what we already know in our hearts. He considers the proclamation of the Gospel to be his primary call and uses many different platforms to communicate that message. His most recent conference is Holding the Tension: The Power of Paradox.
